In the “Women Leaders of Technology” Competition, which was held for the 6th time this year in cooperation with Microsoft Türkiye and Habitat Derneği, Sertaç Yerlikaya was given the “Female Leader Making Difference with New Technologies” award.
Sertaç Yerlikaya was awarded for her efforts in the “Türkiye Open Source Platform” to develop exportable open source software products in Türkiye, to increase the number of companies and entrepreneurs providing qualified software developers and open source software support services, with the “Türkiye Open Source Platform”. She was awarded in the category of “Female Leader Making Difference with New Technologies”.
At the award ceremony held on 20 June 2022, female leaders drew attention with their success stories; It was underlined once again that women in the technology sector can have a say with their intelligence, creativity, organization, communication and management skills.
Sertaç Yerlikaya is the Director of Türkiye Open Source Platform for about three years and the 42 Software Schools with additional different titles from entrepreneur to manager.
Yerlikaya, who works as a strategy consultant at TUBITAK (THE SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF TÜRKİYE) to work on the development of the “National Technology Move” strategy and roadmaps of the Ministry of Industry and Technology carried out by TÜSSIDE (TURKISH MANAGEMENT SCIENCES INSTITUTE), also participated as executive member in the studies such as 2023 Industry and Technology Strategy, National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, Mobility Vehicles and Technologies Strategy, Vertical Sectors Roadmap in 5G and Beyond Technologies, and the Digital Transformation Roadmap of the Industry.
Sertaç Yerlikaya, who is the Advisor to the Deputy Minister, is also the Steering Committee Member of the 4th Industrial Revolution Center of Türkiye, established by the World Economic Forum, the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Turkish Metal Industrialists’ Union, and the Vice President of the Industry 4.0 Platform of Boğaziçi University.
A graduate of Boğaziçi University Industrial Engineering, Yerlikaya is also the director of the “Türkiye Open Source Platform” project, which is one of the pioneer projects of the 2023 strategy, to develop open source projects in partnership with the private sector, public, NGOs (nongovernmental organizations), universities and communities, and to establish a new generation 42 software schools.
Prior to these duties, Sertaç Yerlikaya, who has experience in different sectors from retail to telecom, from FMCG to consultancy, worked as a Strategy Planning Manager in charge of a wide geography in Africa and the Middle East in a private company. Later, she worked as Strategy Planning and Business Development Manager in a telecom company. As the founder of Afillikitap.com, Türkiye’s first online photo book service, Yerlikaya is actively involved in the empowerment and guidance networks of Türkiye’s women and youth in order to make them to say ‘We are here too!’ in the software sector!
